The last month my team and I have been in India! India is a closed country meaning that missionaries are not allowed entrance. There are stringent guidelines and persecution for Christians here. We were so blessed to be protected by the Lord as we got to see this beautiful country and serve in several different children’s homes. If you look at my profile you may say wow she looks like she is just a tourist, what the heck are they doing in India. And that is very purposeful. Our organization has had teams have to undergo severe questioning when entering and exiting the country so we have been diligent to be tourists out of caution for ourselves and the ministries we have partnered with. So although I have a ton of cute photos with the children we have served and revival in the churches, those will not be online. 

India has the highest population of street children in the world. At an estimated 18 million children, that is more than double the population of New York City!! When we stayed in the slums of New Delhi we got to see firsthand the darkness and depravity that these people live in. Children who were skin in bones performing for pennies with blank stares. The more I travel the more I realize how fortunate I am to be an American. Even the most horrific stories of children in America can’t compare to what is legally allowed for the children here.

The Lord is moving and using people to rescue children from these dire circumstances. We worked with an organization that rescues young children from the red light district of New Delhi and gives them a home. We got to serve the children and hear some of their stories. The joy and strength that they had will forever touch me. I honestly still don’t know how to articulate all that I saw in India but I chose to hold onto all the beautiful moments. The moments we saw kids who had been saved. Kids with full bellies and big smiles. Kids who had hope, love and stability. We got to see people who were persecuted and beaten for being Christians and for associating with the lower class. Lower class people are seen as unclean and just a touch from them makes you unclean in their belief system. Orphans are often cast aside and spit on for being poor and orphaned. Despite this there are people helping these kids have hope and a future. 

Please join us in praying for these homes that they would be protected from local interference and continued governmental scrutiny. Pray for the kids still on the streets and the kids that have been rescued and are walking through healing. Pray for the people doing good and that the Lord would send more! Pray for the love and joy we have seen in India to multiplied and the darkness to be extinguished.
